The CFL's ALL TIME greatest receiver, leader in receiving yards 16,352 and receptions 1,029, 3 TIME Grey Cup champion, The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)

Geroy Simon will be joining us on May 16!

Gary Chiste (our event chair in Calgary) and his wife, Diane, recently traveled to Jupiter, Florida to visit the Els Centre of Excellence.  Below is a quick summary of Gary’s trip:

Diane and I were thrilled to be able to visit the Els Center of Excellence in Jupiter Florida. We were very impressed with the commitment and passion for the people connected with the center. We had the opportunity to observe the programs, classrooms and students in action and we had informative and meaningful professional conversations with lead staff members.  The work being done is truly excellent.

We were also fortunate to partake in two events:

  • Els for Autism's 5th Annual Light It Up Blue Event
  • Awe in Autism – this was especially inspiring as this conference highlighted the talents of children and young adults on the spectrum.   Absolutely impressive and amazing.

We look forward to keeping in touch with the center in an effort to share best practices.

PAL's Gala 2016

We wanted to share with you another positive step forward for Els for Autism Canada. PALS Autism School is based in Vancouver.  They have been a terrific supporter (and grant recipient) of Els for Autism Canada from the start. On April 9th, they will be hosting their annual fundraising gala.  This year, they will be highlighting Els for Autism Canada as the Gala Honoree.

Below is an excerpt from a note that we received from Katy Harandi (PALS Autism School).

Ernie and Liezl will be busy with the Masters that week and will be unable to attend. But, Liezl has recorded a nice message that we will be sharing with the Gala attendees. The Gala is very well attended and will help us to continue spreading the word about Els for Autism Canada.

Dear Alan and Els For Autism Canada,

The Board of Directors of PALS Autism Society would like to express our appreciation and admiration to the Els For Autism Foundation for your multi-year support of our Society and its vision to help improve the lives of children, young adults and their families living with autism.  As the creator of the Els for Autism Foundation, we recognize Ernie Els as a philanthropist committed to many worthy autism causes in Canada and internationally. With that in mind, the PALS Board would like to recognize the Els for Autism Foundation, Ernie Els and his wife and yourself Alan, as our 2016 Annual Imagine Gala Honouree on the evening of Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

The PALS annual Imagine Gala and Fundraiser is our signature event, benefiting and celebrating the work being done for children and young adults challenged by autism while raising awareness of autism in our community.  Proceeds are used to continue the education and therapies being delivered to students and young adults and will help us relocate to a larger school where we can support more students and families in need of PALS services.

Over the past eight years there have only been two previous Gala Honourees, and we hope that next year you will allow us to recognize the charitable work of your Foundation and its founder, Ernie Els.

Gratefully yours,

Katy Harandi
